AOA Annual Conference Award winners celebrate
The Hilton London Metropole saw award winners celebrate at the AOA Annual Awards Ceremony, the centrepiece of the Conference Dinner.
The black tie event, attended by over 200 delegates from across the industry and related businesses attracted record numbers of Managing Directors and senior level delegates, with visitors visiting sponsor and exhibitor stands prior to the ceremony itself.
Awards were presented for airports nominated for excellence in particular areas. These were determined by the following bodies; the British Air Transport Association (BATA), the Airport Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) and the British Business and General Aviation Association (BBGA). The awards presented by Simon Calder were for the following categories:
| Best General Aviation Airport | Denham Aerodrome |
| Best Business Aviation Airport | London Biggin Hill Airport |
| Best Airport with up to 6 Million Passengers | Newcastle International Airport |
| Best Airport with over 6 Million Passengers | Glasgow Airport |
Simon Buck, BATA Chief Executive said:
‘BATA is again pleased to be nominating the two “Best Airport” awards. Both categories were extremely competitive and the winners well deserved. The strong field of nominees highlights the good working relationships that exist between UK airlines and airports.’
Awards were also presented to AOA’s Associate members. The winners, decided democratically by the AOA Board, were selected for their outstanding work in their particular field.
Ed Anderson, AOA Chairman commented:
“The number and quality of entries was unprecedented, reflecting the quality of people and companies working in the airports industry. Deciding on the winners was a difficult process, with so many outstanding entries, but the award winners showed particular excellence and dedication in their field.”
