FlyBe signs de-icing deal

A European airline has signed a deal with an eco-friendly de-icing fluid supplier.

FlyBe has signed the contract with Kilfrost, which will supply environmentally-friendly products for its fleet.

John Palmer, Flybe''s director of aircraft operations, says: "As an airline we champion the motto ''low cost but not at any cost'' and are committed to operating in as green a manner as possible."

He adds that the Kilfrost product was particularly impressive as it is sustainably sourced.

Initial estimates show that the use of this de-icer will help to reduce the airline''s carbon footprint, with it using 40 per cent less energy than other brands during its production.
Last month, FlyBe was recognised as the largest mid-market private company by the Sunday Times HSBC Top Track 250 league table.

It fended off competition from other household names such as Harrods, Dyson and Manchester United FC.
