Exeter Airport thrives in wet weather

A south-west airport has seen a leap in the number of passengers using its facilities during the wet weather the UK has seen recently.

Senior figure''s at Exeter Airport said that the renewed interest in flying abroad on holiday has brought more than 15,000 passengers who booked late deals in order to escape the gloom of the UK.

The airport''s managing director, Jamie Christon, said: "This surge in website usage indicates a huge amount of interest in our flights to guaranteed sunshine abroad. The six digit total for last month was up eight per cent the previous June and two per cent up on the July of 2008."

He added that the airport is optimistic that the new passengers will continue to use the facility and said there had been increased activity on the hub''s website.

Exeter Airport was recently involved in a new project by budget carrier Flybe, which introduced Wi-Fi hotspots at certain UK airports.
