AIRPORT OPERATORS ASSOCIATION RESPONSE TO GEOFF MUIRHEAD RESIGNATION

EMBARGO: Immediate, 20th  September 2013

The Airport Operators Association (AOA), the trade body which represents UK airports, has responded to the announcement made today by the Airports Commission that Geoff Muirhead has stepped down from his role on the Commission.

Darren Caplan, Chief Executive of the AOA, said: “The Airport Operators Association supports the work of the Airports Commission as it seeks to deliver the network of vibrant point-to-point airports and sufficient world-class hub capacity, to link to existing and emerging markets now and in the future. Regardless of the composition of its membership, the main priority of the Commission should be to look at all options for future capacity, keep to the timetable it has set itself to report back by 2015, and encourage the political parties to commit to acting on its recommendations just as soon as they are published.”
